As some of you may already be aware, there is currently an effort being made to bring recognition and appreciation to our chosen profession.
This day hasn’t picked up much traction outside the world of IT however but the people over at LOPSA(the League of Professional System Administrators) are trying to do something about that. They’ve compiled a great list of other organizations are recognizing the day as well, so I highly recommend clicking through to see what they have to offer. Additionally, if you’re not already a LOPSA member (and you absolutely should be), now is a great time to join as they’re currently running a promo on the cost of membership through the end of tomorrow.
For anybody who happens to be reading my blog that isn’t a sys admin, be sure to thank your IT team tomorrow to let them know they are appreciated! For those of you in the trenches, the day may come and go without any thanks being given. In that case, why not thank yourself by going out for drinks with the team? In a profession that is all too often overworked, it’s important to take some time out to appreciate the hard work that is put in by so many of us.
Anybody that has any ideas about how to raise recognition of this day in future years, share your ideas in the comments below!
